Hi I am a zero hour work for a care company and I'm currently self isolating due to a family member showing symptoms last week. I have just had an email off work saying they are not paying employees statutory sick pay for those self isolating due family members showing symptoms and that you are to claim universal credit. On the universal credit site it says If you are self isolating due government advice then you are eligible for SSP. Where do I stand?

Hello, here is the guidance on SSP, you should receive 14 days SSP if isolating due to family member https://www.gov.uk/statutory-sick-pay This is based on NHS guidance https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/ You should ask employer to reconsider based on this. They are entitled to get 14 days SSP reimbursement from government to cover this if they have less than 250 employees.
